Abstract
(+)-MK7607 is a patented naturally occurring unsaturated pseudo-carbasugar possessing herbicidal activity. We present herein the first synthesis of the 5-fluorinated analogue (1 S, 2 S, 3 R, 4 R)-5-fluoro-6-(hydroxymethyl)cyclohex-5-ene-1,2,3,4-tetrol as well as that of two related compounds, namely its 1-epimer and its 6-deoxy derivative.
