Abstract

The Inventario de Comportamiento de Estudio (ICE), a Spanish version of the Study Behavior Inventory (SBI), was developed and tested using 594 undergraduate students at la Universidad de las Amricas, in the state of Puebla, Mexico. A team of bilingual specialists was assembled to produce a translation that might be generic enough to be understood across Spanish-speaking countries and cultures. Factor analytical techniques on student ICE responses produced a factor structure very similar that found in the English language SBI. Evidence of appropriate levels of construct validity of the instrument and the reliability of its scores was obtained.Key words: study behaviors, study habits, studying, academic self-regulation, Spanish language instruments, Study Behavior Inventory
