Abstract
This painting (Fig. 1) depicts early snow falling in late autumn over the mountainous regions of China where wooden walkways built hundreds of years ago using simple tools and materials still remain. For the purpose of trade between Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces of China and its western-most region of Tibet, and extending beyond to Nepal, Burma, and India, walkways through the mountainous regions were required for transportation of goods.
