Abstract

A transportable absolute gravity meter has been built at the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics (JILA) of the University of Colorado and delivered in January 1986 to the Institut fur Erdmessung (IFE), Universitat Hannover. Instrumental investigations, software improvements and absolute gravity determinations on 15 stations performed byIFE in 1986 are reported here. The main conclusion from one year experience with the instrument is that absolute gravity can be observed on a station within one day with a precision of a few μgal and an accuracy of about 10 μgal.
