Abstract

In 2015, cankers were observed on tree bark of Terminalia mantaly in Taiwan. A fungus with orange mycelium was consistently isolated and was identified as Aurifilummarmelostoma based on the morphological characteristics and two genetic markers: internal transcribed spacer and β-tubulin gene regions. The fungus produced similar canker symptoms after inoculation of T. mantaly and T. catappa seedlings. To our knowledge, this is the first record of A.marmelostoma in Asia.
