Abstract

Sano (1990) stated that "one male and two young of the House Sparrow Passer domesticus were found on Rishiri Island." Evidence he presented, however, is too weak to exclude the possibility that the two birds were juveniles or females of another native species, the Cinamon Sparrow, Passer rutilans.
