Abstract

Abstract The first record of some fishes (Pimelodus sp., Doradidae indet., Hoplias malabaricus and Symbranchus marmoratus) and mammals (Cavia cf. aperea and Myocastor coypus) in Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina, is described. It is also mentioned cf. Hoplosternum, Prochilodus cf. platensis (Teleostei), and Holochilus chacarius (Rodentia), vertebrates unknown in the area. The faunistic material came from an archaeological site occupied ca. 1000–1200 AD.
