First quantum mechanical computations of collision-induced absorption spectra of H[sub 2] pairs in the second overtone band

Abstract

The rotovibrational collision-induced absorption (CIA) spectra of H2–H2 pairs in the second overtone band (Δv=3), which is very important in the studies of the stellar and the planetary atmospheres, are computed for the first time from the ab initio induced-dipole moments.
