Abstract

The magnetic structure of Sr2NiReO6 remains controversial experimentally [ferrimagnetic (FiM) versus antiferromagnetic (AFM)]. By considering electron correlation and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect, it was found that FiM phase is energetically lower than AFM phase by 12.4 meV. It is only the combination of electron correlation and SOC effect that reproduces the experimentally observed insulating behavior of the compound.
