Abstract
We present first principles calculations of the real part of the self energy for the transverse optical phonon at the Brillouin zone center in GaAs. The various contributions at zero temperature are analyzed and discussed. Our result for the temperature dependence of the real part of the phonon self energy is in good agreement with the available experimental data.
