Abstract

ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Biology Open, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Martha S.C. Xelhuantzi is first author on ‘ High-resolution live cell imaging to define ultrastructural and dynamic features of the halotolerant yeast Debaryomyces hansenii’, published in BiO. Martha conducted the research described in this article as an exchange undergraduate student in Chris MacDonald's lab at the University of York. She is now an undergraduate student at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México, Mexico City, investigating cellular processes and advanced imaging techniques to enhance biotechnological applications and translational research.
