Abstract

The spin-glass phase and the first-order spin-glass transitions are investigated for a generalized Sherrington-Kirkpatrick Ising spin-glass model with S=1 in a crystal field. Mean field equations for the model are derived and they are solved numerically. The double peak structure in the distribution of pi=(Si2) is shown to be important near the first order transitions. The transitions are qualitatively similar to the ground state transition.
