Abstract

201 The whitespotted greenling Hexagrammos stelleri is endemic to the northern part of the Pacific Ocean. Of all representatives of the family Hexagrammidae, it is distributed most widely and is one of most cold� water species (Rutenberg, 1962). In the Pacific Ocean H. stelleri occurs both at the Asian and American coasts: in the Sea of Japan (from Peter the Great Bay along the continent to the north), the Sea of Okhotsk (from Penzhinskaya Gulf to the south up to Hok� kaido), and the Bering Sea (everywhere), at south� eastern Kamchatka, the Kurils, in the Gulf of Alaska and to the south to the Puget Sound.
