Abstract
Excited states have been observed for the first time in the very neutron-deficient odd-odd 55118Cs nucleus. A doubly-decoupled band based on the π(h112) ⊗ ν(h112) configuration has been identified to spins over 30 ħ. The band has been assigned to 118Cs using γ-recoil and γ-X-ray coincidences. A low-spin signature inversion is observed between 16 and 17 ħ. The band is discussed with respect to the systematics of signature inversion in odd-odd A ⋍ 120 nuclei.
