Abstract
United States participation in the International Hydrological Program (IHP) took a major step forward with the establishment of the U.S. National Committee on Scientific Hydrology (USNC/SH) in the U.S. Geological Survey of the Department of the Interior.The committee is to serve as a national committee for the IHP, and also as an advisory committee on scientific hydrology for the Survey's Water Resources Division (WRD). It was established at the request of the U.S. State Department, and with the understanding that it would have the cooperation and support of other federal agencies involved in water activities relevant to the IHP.
