Abstract

10074 Background: The role of chemotherapy in advanced MPNST is unclear. Promising results on two patients with locally-advanced MPNST treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy encouraged us to retrospectively study the EORTC-STBSG data series, aiming to determine whether patients with advanced MPNST had a better outcome than those with advanced STS with other histotypes. Additionally, prognostic factors within the MPNST population were defined. Methods: Chemotherapy-naive STS patients treated on 12 pooled non-randomized and randomized trials of the EORTC-STBSG were retrospectively analysed. Clinical outcomes, overall-survival, progression-free-survival (PFS) and response, were recorded in the categories MPNST versus other histotypes. Studied cofactors were age, gender, performance status, sarcoma history, disease extent and chemotherapy-regimen. Results: After a median follow-up of 4.1 years, 175 MPNST patients out of 2675 eligible patients with advanced STS were analysed. Clinical outcome was similar for MP...
