Abstract

AbstractThe first enantioselective synthesis of two new monoterpene aldehyde‐esters from Bupleurum gibraltaricum, starting from an enantiopure building block, is described. The key step is a strictly controlled esterification to afford the somewhat unstable target compounds. The previously unknown absolute stereochemistries of these natural products have been established.(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2007)
