Abstract

The multi-pass Thomson scattering (MPTS) has been used for multiplying the TS signal intensities and improving the time resolution of TS measurement. In the simple MPTS system, the MP signal intensities decrease with the pass number, because of the damping due to the optical components in the system. We have been developing the new MPTS system using the laser amplification system. The laser amplification system can improve the degraded laser power. We had successfully obtained the long duration of MP signals in the gas scattering experiments. After optimizing the laser trajectory and the optical components, we obtained the clear MP signals in the gas scattering experiments. Moreover, we applied the MPTS with amplification system to GAMMA 10/PDX plasma and successfully obtained the electron temperature and density for the first time.
