Abstract

Magnusiomyces capitatus (previously known as Geotrichum capitatum or Trichosporon capitatum) is a rare cause of fungal infection in immunocompromised patients mainly seen in hematological malignancies. 1,2 We are presenting an extremely rare case of “Mcapitatus endocarditis” in an immunocompromised patient, a 15-year-old boy with Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis– Not otherwise specified, diagnosed after tricuspid valve vegetatectomy in south India. Fungal identification was performed at standard laboratory by phenotypic characteristics. He was successfully treated with combination of surgery and Inj. liposomal Amphotericin B with voriconazole.
