Abstract

The first annual congress of the Lebanese Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (LSPRAS) and the World Congress of Plastic Surgeons of Lebanese Descent were held during 4 days in Beirut, Lebanon, 14–17 October 2010, in association with the third Professor Illouz Association (PIA) meeting and with special endorsement by the Euro-Mediterranean Council for Burns and Fire Disasters (MBC), the Sociedade Brasileira De Cirurgia Plastica (SBCP), and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). With 350 registered participants, 115 speakers of international standard, and 200 presentations and key note lectures, in addition to a large exhibit with 26 participating representatives and suppliers, this event was the largest Plastic Surgery Congress ever organized in Lebanon. Besides a rich scientific program, the organizing committee had arranged an exceptional social program comprising visits to various sites of interest in the country, dinners, live and varied entertainment, and a memorable Gala Dinner, all highly appreciated by the participants. The congress, widely covered by the local media, was the occasion to promote plastic surgery in Lebanon as well as to show all our guests the true face of our country, one of peace, beauty, culture, education, science, and creativity. It also was the occasion to found the Association of Plastic Surgeons of Lebanese Descent with Dr. Ricardo Baroudi, Former ISAPS President, as President of this Association. At the conclusion of the Congress, Dr. Jose Luis Haddad, future President of the Mexican Society of Plastic Surgery, announced that in 2 years he will host the second World Congress of Plastic Surgeons of Lebanese Descent in Mexico.
