Abstract

Purpose: The “ideal” length of the inter-stage interval of Associating Liver Partition and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy (ALPPS) has not yet been investigated but many centres suggest that progression to the second stage within two weeks is crucial to achieve resection rates >95%, a key feature of ALPPS. However, without accurate volumetric and functional assessment of the future liver remnant (FLR), completion hepatectomy after one week might be too early, contributing to high morbidity and mortality.
