Abstract

The SIN isochronous ring cyclotron accelerates a proton beam from the 72 MeV injector cyclotron to 590 MeV kinetic energy. An atomic beam type polarized ion source has been installed below the axial injection system of the injector cyclotron. From this ion source for the first time a polarized proton beam has been accelerated to full energy of 590 MeV. The polarization of this high energy 1 nA beam was measured in the following way: The polarized proton beam was transported to the external thin target station containing a 1 g/cm2 carbon target.
