Abstract

Networks of small construction firms are usually involved in building maintenance and urban renovation. The Neighbourhood Laboratory (NL) can be considered one of the most suitable inter-organisational model for this type of network. The increasing demand for building maintenance and urban renovation as well as the information technology development are pushing NL towards new forms of organisation of maintenance activities. In this paper, the NL evolution towards process-based organisation is addressed. The impact of information technology applications on the performance of NL and the related problems of knowledge codification are stressed. The design of maintenance projects has been examined as an example of process organisation.
