Abstract
This paper presents the application of a new and recently reported swarm intelligence technique, named Fireworks Algorithm (FWA) to electromagnetic and antenna problems. The operation of the basic principles of FWA is discussed. The FWA is then implemented in the optimization of a benchmark antenna problem: gain optimization of Yagi-Uda antennas. The performance of FWA is compared with other nature-based optimization algorithms. Preliminary results indicate the potentials of FWA in efficient optimization of electromagnetic problems.
