Abstract

A healthy 5-year-old boy was brought to our clinic with decreased vision in both eyes (OU). His best-corrected visual acuity was 20/200 OU. Slit-lamp examination revealed developmental cataract OU, in the form of multiple glistening sparks and lines originating from the center of the anterior capsule of lens, resembling a firecracker illuminating the sky (Fig A, B). His family history was unremarkable, and there was no history of trauma. The child underwent sequential cataract aspiration with intraocular lens implantation OU, with postoperative visual acuity of 20/40 OU.
