Brown is Senior Research Chemist, Friction and Wear Division at the U.S. Naval Engineering Experiment Station in Annapolis, Maryland. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B. S. in Chemistry in 1955. He has been engaged for twenty years in the analysis and evaluation of petroleum products, research and development of synthetic fluids for naval needs. He has been concerned with the development of fire-resistant lubricants and hydraulic fluids for the past five years. This work has resulted in the receipt of the Navy Superior Achievement Award. He graduated from West Virginia University with a B. S. in Chemical Engineering in 1948. For the past ten years his projects include the conduct of research and experimental tests leading to the development and analysis of lubricants and their applications, lubrication processes, fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, and of methods and equipment for evaluating and analyzing lubricants and hydraulic fluids.
