Abstract

In this paper, a new adjustable window function, combined by Blackman and Lanczos window functions, has been proposed. The spectral properties and the shape of the proposed window can be adjusted by changing the value of the controlling parameter. The spectral properties of the proposed window have been cpmpared with Gaussian, Lanczos and Kaiser Windows. From MATLAB simulation results, it is observed that the proposed window provides better ripple ratio than Gaussian and Lanczos windows and better side-lobe roll-off ratio than Kaiser and Gaussian windows. In order to justify the performance of the proposed window function, it has been applied to design Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters. The MATLAB simulation results have confirmed that the filters designed by the proposed window provide better spectral properties and better gain than the other preceding windows.
