Abstract

Based on genetic algorithm (GA) and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approaches, a sufficient condition is presented to design the finite impulse response (FIR) equalizer for nonlinear communication channels from an H/sub /spl infin// perspective. The GA technique is employed to linearize the nonlinear communication channel model and the approximate error can be viewed as a state uncertainty. It is shown that the problem of FIR equalizer design can be characterized in terms of LMIs, and then the coefficients of the FIR equalizer can be obtained by solving a LMI optimization problem. An example is given to illustrate the application of the proposed methodology.
