Abstract

Abstract The notion of finite presentability is of interest for various classes of profinite groups, but it has received particular attention for the class of pro-p groups, where p is a fixed prime. The motivation comes from various sources: field theory, the theory of finite p-groups, and applications to infinite abstract groups. Examples of finitely presented pro-p groups include all pro-p groups of finite rank and all Poincare duality groups.
