Abstract

The beam equation for a uniform cross-section, damped, elastically supported cantilever having the wall edge elastically restrained against rotation, is solved for the displacement under very general conditions of arbitrary initial and distributed load conditions. The solution is based on the properties of an Hermitian operator and its orthogonal basis vectors.
