Abstract

This work relates to the formulation of finite strip for the analysis of thin circular cylindrical shells. The thin shell supported on diaphragms at circular ends has been taken for the analysis by finite strip method. The diaphragms are infinitely rigid in their own planes and flexible perpendicular to the plane. The behavior of thin cylindrical shell is governed by Love-Kirchhoff assumptions. Koiter’s [1] theory of thin cylindrical shell is used as a base for the derivation of strain components. The discretization of half shell has been done in to finite strips are taken along the length of the shell.
