Abstract

AbstractA perturbation theory is developed for calculating eigenenergies (EE) and wave functions (WF) of a microparticle localized in a multiquantum well (MQW) semiconductor structure. Elastic tunnellings of one charge carrier and many charge carriers between quantum wells (QW) of arbitrary smooth shape are investigated. It is concluded that non‐decaying periodic currents can arise in the above structure. Analytical expressions are obtained for such currents and for times of tunnelling across the barriers of a set of QWs. Many‐particle tunnellings in a sawtooth double‐QW structure are considered.
