Abstract

AbstractSimple but efficient quadrilateral and hexahedronal elements for the analysis of plane stress, and three‐dimensional plate bending and shell problems are derived explicitly. The high order derivatives of the differential equations are approximated by a product of lower order derivatives. The integration of the equations yields the element matrix. It is composed of constant submatrices, multiplied by variable coefficients. The numerical results indicate very good accuracy of the applied method.
