Abstract

A recent limited experimental program showed the existence of an alternate path for the block shear failure in structural tees used in tension. This article reports on the use of finite elements as a tool in designing the testing of these members. Correlation with results from the previous limited study is also accomplished. The experimental and finite element results are compared with the current AISC-LRFD design code predictions.
