Abstract

The concepts of variable constraint and constraint increment are presented in three-dimensional finite element (FE) analysis of radial tires. It can be seen that the variable constraint method has great advantages in solving contact problems in tire modeling. With this method, the unilateral boundary condition can be strictly met, and convergent numerical results can be obtained.
