Abstract

One of the most useful tools for performing numerical analysis is finite element analysis. It is a cost-effective strategy. The hardness test on Al7475 and Al7020 metal matrix composites (MMC) are numerically simulated in this paper using finite element analysis. Metal matrix composites made of aluminum provide a wide range of useful features. It undoubtedly takes the first non-ferrous materials in terms of both production and consumption. Despite decades of extensive research and application, commercial aluminum composites are still poorly understood. The Al7475 and Al7020 metal matrix has been simulated when reinforced with graphite and silicon carbide. The weight percentage of graphite is increased from 3 to 12 with an interval of 3, and the other reinforcement, silicon carbide, is kept constant at 10%. ANSYS software is used to model and analyze the data. The simulated hardness values are compared with experimental hardness values. The error percentage is less than 5%. The comparison seems to be acceptable.
