Abstract

The temperature of the billet deformation is a key factor in equal channel angular extrusion process. In this study, temperature rise and temperature distribution in the die and CP–Ti billet at different deformation stages during equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) process was conducted by three-dimension finite element method (FEM). The influence of initial extrusion temperature on the temperature rise was also discussed. The simulation results showed that the temperature rises in the die and billet were very different at different locations. The distribution of temperature was inhomogeneous at different initial extrusion temperature.
