Abstract

The inverse T type breakwater with jackets and pile foundations is a new type breakwater in port and coastal engineering, which mixes gravity breakwater with pile ones. A 3D elastic-plastic finite element model was estabilished for stability analysis of the inverse T type breakwater with jackets and pile foundations. The displacement field distribution, the stability failure pattern and the bearing behavior of the breakwater were investigated. The failure judgment criterions of the breakwater based on the bearing capacity limit and the displacement threshold were presented and the finite element method for the stability analysis of the breakwater was developed. The effects of relevant parameters on the stability of the inverse T type breakwater with jackets and pile foundations were analyzed. The present research could be a reference for the stability analysis of the new type of structure.
