Abstract

A new finite element code, resonance analysis system for Maxwell’s equation (RAMAX), has been developed for the numerical analysis of electromagnetic fields of multidimensional resonance frequency (rf) cavities. The penalty function method is used to deal with both the divergence-free condition and the boundary condition. The present code is able to analyze 2D (x-y,r-z) waveguide problems, 2.5D [x-y-(z), r-z-(r)] and 3D cavity resonator problems. In this article, the formulation and the features of the code are described. Several numerical examples of 2D, 2.5D, and 3D problems are also presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the code.
