Abstract

The finite difference time-domain method is applied to analyse a gaussian wave propagating in planar stratified dielectric media. To investigate the modulating effects of geometry to propagation signals, we have studied various configurations of dielectric layers. Numerical results show that the spatial distances between the dielectric layers can significantly affect the reflected and transmitted electromagnetic waves. There exist window frequencies at which an incident field almost completely penetrates a three-layered dielectric system.
