Abstract

A finite difference scheme using a zonal non-staggered mesh is employed to compute the two-dimensional flow around a circular cylinder in a combined unidirectional and oscillating flow. The computations were carried out for a Reynolds number range of up to 5000 and a Keulegan-Carpenter number range of up to 25. For such flows, the numerical solution successfully illustrated the eddy shedding and the impact of existing eddies on the flow and the shedding process.
