Abstract

In connection with the development of the machine-building industry, the requirements for the quality and operational reliability of cylindrical gears have increased significantly recently. Among the finishing processes of cylindrical gears, tooth honing has become widespread. This article discusses the technological possibilities of tooth honing with internal hones. The conducted studies have shown that honing has a high ability to correct the errors of hardened teeth obtained during previous operations (after tooth shaving and after tooth milling). A feature of the tooth honing operation is the achievement of low roughness values and its correct location on the side surfaces of the teeth, which helps to retain the lubricating film on the surface of the teeth and reduce vibro-acoustic activity during operation.
