Abstract

Thyroid nodules are very common thyroid diseases, the key of cure is to distinguish benign or malignant nodules. Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) plays an important role in the differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules. The application of modern techniques based on FNAC,such as molecular diagnosis , multiple gene detection and gene chip further improve the diagnostic accuracy, which can help to diagnose correctly, reduce the cost and guide the surgery. Here mainly reviews the relationship between FNAC and differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules.
