Abstract
It has been suggested that difficulties with interpreting some problematic passages in Egyptian texts may be due to the inaccurately determined lexical meanings. The article concentrates on the semantic peculiarities of three words and endeavors to gain better comprehension of some difficult literary passages. New interpretations are offered for Ptahhotep 95-96, 107, 385-386; Merikare E 74, 111; The Dialogue of a Man with his Ba 99-101; and The Maxims of pRamesseum II vso II.4. Section 2 also contributes to the issue of the passive sDm=f with the pronominal subject, and the Appendix to the recent discussion on the factitive stem in Egyptian.
