Abstract

1. X-ray spectral analysis confirmed the hypothesis on the metallike state of hydrogen in titanium hydrides. A comparison of these conclusions with the results of a similar, previous Investigation of vanadium hydrides indicates that these conclusions are general to a large extent. 2. Analysis of experimental material on titanium suicides and borides indicates that the degree and character of the participation of the 3d-level of the transition metal in the formation of the “metallic” bond between atoms in compounds of various compositions may vary. As the specific number of boron and silicon atoms In the compounds increases, there appears a tendency for the formation of isolated structural elements of metalloid atoms and the bond between the atoms acquires a more covalent nature.
