Abstract
The results of new optical absorption measurements on pure AgCl and AgBr will be reported and compared with the wavelength dependence of photoconductivity in these materials. Detailed structure consisting of low-level absorption tails and several shoulders has been found at various temperatures down to 4.2°K. The data will be analysed in terms of indirect optical transitons together with a plausible band structure and vibration spectrum.
