Abstract

The fragmentation theory is used to study the fine structure effects in nuclear fission charge distribution yields. The odd-even proton effects as well as the resulting non-Gaussian charge distributions are shown to be given satisfactorily, without use of any free parameter. Calculations are made for light mass products 98, 100, 102, and 104 due to thermal neutron induced fission of /sup 235/U.
