Abstract

A new type of Al2O3–ZrO2 composite was fabricated by optimizing processing parameters with emphasis on improving and controlling fine grain growth and the formation of compact desirable microstructures by using colloidal processing. The electroacoustic technique was used for on-line control of the stability of highly concentrated suspensions. The results gave good correlation between starting powder characteristics, rheological properties, sintering and microstructure of fabricated dense and homogeneous fine-grained Al2O3–ZrO2 composites.
