Abstract

SummaryThe paper presents the results of the research task trying to find out the influence of the degree of deformation in cold state on the machinability of AISI C1017 (Ck 15) steel in cutting. The fact is that this material is appropriate for cold forming but when machining by cutting is applied various difficulties might be encountered. This is especially expressed in turning when long continuous chips which damage the surface finish are formed and in the formation of the built-up edge. The machinability was tested on several workpieces with different degree of cold deformation. Besides this fundamental research it is also interesting the distribution of the dynamic cutting force component where an interdependence between the degree of cold deformation and cutting force dynamics can be observed.
