Abstract

Fine and hyperfine structures of the energy levels of muonic helium are calculated using the stochastic variational approach. The basis wave functions are taken in Gaussian form. The matrix elements of the Hamiltonian are calculated analytically. A computer code is written in the MATLAB system for numerical calculations. Numerical values are obtained for the energies of the bound state, the structure of the hyperfine spectrum, a correction for the structure of the nucleus, a relativistic correction, and a correction for vacuum polarization.
